Travel provider Trip.com Group will partner with Amazon Web Services to serve as its strategic cloud partner.
The agreement is meant to last multiple years - and while the terms of the deal weren’t specified, Amazon said Trip.com plans to use AWS’ global infrastructure and cloud tech to expand its business across the globe while delivering “seamless” customer experiences and bolstering innovation in the travel space.

“In harnessing the incredible capabilities of generative [artificial intelligence] technologies, AWS will play a pivotal role in helping us to speed up the booking process, optimize flight pricing and curate experiences at price points that fit every budget and travel persona,” said Chao Ma, vice president of Trip.com Group.
This isn’t the first time that Trip.com Group has worked with Amazon. Earlier in 2023, the company created a “joint innovation lab” with AWS to foster development of future applications incorporating generative AI and large language models. Together, they’re looking at AI-based practices for customer service, search optimization for hotels and forecasts for flight demand.
Trip.com Group also uses AWS’ Graviton-powered Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud powered by AWS’ own processors, which enable Trip.com Group to deliver a higher LLM performance at a lower price. Trip.com Group launched its own LLM that is meant to offer increased accessibility, bolster customer experience and reliable personalized recommendations.
The two companies have paired up for other initiatives as well, and Trip.com Group uses AWS’ infrastructure and technologies to deliver its travel products.
AWS managing director of travel and hospitality Steven M. Elinson called Trip.com group “a leading one-stop travel service provider.”
“Working with Trip.com Group to establish the joint innovation lab is helping us identify and develop generative AI solutions for a wide range of use cases that will uncover new growth opportunities, alleviate pain points and create entirely new ways to delight global travelers,” Elinson said.
